In Germany, they celebrate everything to get together drink, eat, and have fun. Today in a town near by, Schwetzingen, it is Germany's asparagus center. They had their annual Spargel Fest (asparagus festival). We love fests as much as the Germans!
wood carved asparagus
beautiful wisteria flowers were hanging everywhere. It was really pretty!
The most common way they prepare their asparagus is to wrap it in ham and pour hollandaise sauce on top. As you can see.....it is white, not like the American green asparagus.
The machine which cuts and cleans all the asparagus
this is how they grow aparagus.......they cover it up in the dirt to keep it white (the sun makes it green and a stronger taste...the lazy way, ha!)
a stand with strawberries......it is also strawberry season here too! Everywhere you go there is a fresh asparagus and strawberry stand. YUM!

Billy trying out a "step" bike. There's no pedals, it is like a step master, but ride it like a bike! I haven't seen any actually on the streets here......
